The Chapin School seeks a  Middle School STEAM Integrator for the 2024-25 school year. 

The Middle School STEAM Integrator will work with the Class 4-7 teaching teams to create a rich and warm learning community for our students. Duties include working with members of the Middle School STEAM leadership team, including the Middle School Director of Academic Technology and the Head of Middle School Science Department to support work in these departments. Additionally, the STEAM Integrator  will work closely with the Middle School Director of Academic Technology to design and implement technology lessons for students in grades 4 and 5 on topics such as digital responsibility, media literacy, use of Google Suite and other educational technologies, and basic coding, among others.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to education and a passion for working with young children. A flexible attitude, willingness to learn, punctuality, professionalism, and a sense of humor are essential. The ability to collaborate and work as a true partner with teachers is essential, as is the ability to take initiative when needs arise. 

Chapin’s next Middle School  STEAM Integrator will possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Demonstrated interest in a STEAM field

  • Preferably have previous experience with Middle School grades 4 - 7

  • Have a commitment to ongoing learning about diversity, equity, and inclusion

  • Possess a strong interest and/or background in childhood education as demonstrated in their educational pursuits and/or experience

Responsibilities of a Middle School STEAM Integrator include:

Technology Support:

Class 4 Technology Integration 

  • Co-design unit and lesson plans along with the MS Director of Academic Technology

  • Teach Class 4 technology lessons once per cycle through an integration model in partnership with Class 4 teachers

  • Oversee 1-to-1 Apple laptop carts and iPad carts for Class 4

Class 5 Technology Workshop

  • Co-design unit and lesson plans along with the MS Director of Academic Technology

  • Teach Class 5 Technology Workshop once per cycle

  • Oversee 1-to-1 Apple laptop carts and iPad carts for Class 5

Science Support:

  • Assist MS Science faculty and students in setting up and conducting laboratory experiments across grades (Class 4, 5, 6, 7)

  • Help prep materials for labs & long-term projects

  • Help maintain trout tank, rooftop garden, greenhouse vertical garden, and oyster research station monthly checks

  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment

  • Collaborate with faculty members on ongoing long-term research projects and related field trips 

  • Assist in data collection and analysis of long-term projects 

  • Maintain accurate inventory of materials in science closet and labs

  • And other duties as assigned

Compensation for this position is  $70,000-$120,000 annually
